I am so glad you’re here

Choosing to engage in therapy is a courageous step, and I want to honour that bravery in you.

I offer one-on-one therapy services both in-person and online. I specialize in supporting folks to recover from anxiety and burnout so they can reconnect with their longing, creativity and joy.

Here’s what we can work on together:

Recover your true self:
Throughout our lives we get so many messages about who we “should” be that we often lose sight of who we really are. I’m committed to supporting you to recover your true self and come back into alignment with who you want to be.

Reconnect to your creativity & joy:

I support all genders to connect with the parts of themselves that may have been lost in the hustle culture of our modern society. If you desire to recover from burnout and reconnect with your creativity, play, longing, and joy – I’ve got you.

Heal from anxiety, depression, trauma & burnout:

I can help you cope with ongoing anxiety and depression symptoms and work to find greater emotional freedom. Using a variety of approaches and extensive experience, we can address your anxious thoughts and feelings together.

you belong here.

You are welcome here. All of you. The lonely parts, the sad parts, the tired parts, the shame-filled parts.

My work is open to all genders including queer, non-binary and trans folks. I am also here for folks who are disabled and/or neurospicy.

Here are a few core principles we’ll weave into our work…

  1. We’ll develop compassion for self and others. We cannot change what we are unable to accept. Developing a willingness to be compassionate toward ourselves is vital.

  2. We’ll understand why things are the way they are. Sometimes we can be overly hard on ourselves when we don’t understand the reasons we act or think a certain way. With my support, you’ll explore your past experiences, trauma, and relationships so you can better understand your current reality. Awareness is the first step.

3. We’ll unpack your beliefs about yourself and the world. Throughout our lives we learn a lot of stories about how we should see ourselves and perceive the world. Understanding where your negative beliefs come from and realizing how they are no longer serving you is an important element of this work. Seeing those self-judgmental narratives clearly can help create space for more positive and adaptive ways of perceiving.

4. We’ll tap into your emotions. Feelings need to be felt, so we’ll feel them. It can be scary to explore our emotions. We can become afraid that feeling something will mean we get stuck in that feeling state, but in order to end, emotions need to be experienced. I’ll help you find safe ways to experience your feelings.

5. We’ll recover your true self. Who were you before the world told you who you should be or before traumatic incidents shaped you? We all have a true version of ourselves, but the events that we experience often get in the way of our ability to cultivate that part of us. Let’s uncover your most authentic self and find ways to live in greater integrity.

6. We’ll find ways to create a fulfilling life on your terms. This experience is all about you. You are the expert on your own life, and you are the one steering the ship that is your journey. I am here to support you, but I’m not tied to any one way of doing things. There is no right or wrong way, there is only your way. I’m here to help you find it. Together.

You might be wondering…

Working with a therapist for the first time can be a daunting process. Whether you’ve done this before, or you’ve never seen a therapist, there’s a lot to consider.  I’ve tried to answer the common questions I receive about my services below, but if you still have questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to reach out and ask.

  • I approach my work from a variety of perspectives. My approach and training includes cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), mindfulness, interpersonal approaches, attachment theory, emotion-focused therapy and some somatic techniques. I will also incorporate psychoeducation to explain why things are happening and help improve your understanding of your own emotions and reactions.

As well, all of the work I do is founded in trauma-informed practice. This means, even if we aren’t directly dealing with trauma, I am focused on ensuring we are deeply sensitive to your emotional state. We will move at a pace that ensures you do not become emotionally overwhelmed throughout the process.

  • All individual appointments are $150 + GST per 60 minute session. I do also have a limited number of sliding scale spots.

Generally, I ask that you commit to a minimum of six sessions over a three month period to begin so we can really get some traction together. If you would like to continue to work together after that, we can adjust our schedule as needed.

  • Absolutely! I can work with clients located anywhere in Canada except Quebec. I can also work with clients in most other countries, including the UK and Australia. Due to licensing issues, unfortunately I cannot offer counselling to clients in the United States.

Everything works the same as in-person counselling except we’re connected to each other by computer. I use JaneApp and will send you a private link to our session before we start.

  • What extended health benefit providers cover varies depending on your policy and what your employer has chosen to cover within that policy. Unfortunately, I cannot offer direct billing and if you are relying on insurance coverage you will need to submit receipts after our sessions.

I recommend that clients contact their insurance providers directly to find out if counselling with a Registered Clinical Counsellor is covered and to what extent.

Your benefits provider will most likely need to know the following information:

I hold a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology.

I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC). My membership number is 17836.

  • First, take some time to read through my website and see if you resonate with my approach and values. This should give you a pretty good feel for how I work. If you’re still not sure, I’m happy to set up a free 20-minute consultation call for us to chat and see how it feels to work with one another.
